Bio:
Thenjiwe (Thenji) is a London-based artist of South African heritage, blending fashion with cultural research and intertwining music, spirit and history, focusing particularly on Black femme and queer bodies. Thenji uses design and sonic practices to redefine misperceptions and erasure in electronic music, fashion industries, and beyond.
Context:
Thenji got first involved with the platform in 2023 at the first event organised by the soon-to-be collective, for which they prepared a DJ set. They have joined the group following the second event, where they were featured as a selected artist.
KONTEKST:
2023: Thenji’s DJ set was featured as the finale of the Visual Anthropology Films showcase;
2025: Thenji launched their radio station JONGA☆SANI at KONTEKST Film Fest: ARCHIVE.
