KONTEKST Framework

One of our key values is transparency - providing a clear idea on how we operate, who makes the decisions and where we get funding from.

Our Structure

KONTEKST is an open collective, everyone who shares our values and vision, and has interest in our activities is welcome to freely join however they wish as members. Membership is an informal status and simply refers to any relationship with KONTEKST.
In other words, if you like what we’ve written and want to contribute to our shared goals, you are still welcome to join even if your only capability is through eg.: promoting this project to your circles.

KONTEKST is intended to function as a co-operative. There are no bosses as we believe in alternative, horizontal forms of organising. We hope with time to serve as a reference point for other anti-capitalist collectives and initiatives.

KONTEKST will maintain an admin team who will ensure the continued activity of the collective, plan KONTEKST events, manage our online resources, look for future opportunities, and be in charge of safeguarding.  All members are welcome to join the admin team, and members of the admin team are intended to change over time depending on individual capacity.

Our Events

KONTEKST has been established with the aim to collectively organise events. We are in the planning process for a KONTEKST Film Fest, planned to take place in early 2025.

KONTEKST Film Fest is currently in an early planning stage, but we are exploring options for an expanded notion of a film festival, through talks, discussions, panels and consciousness-raising activism; through installations, immersive artworks and sound work; and through networking and skills-sharing events.

Even though we may sometimes be restricted by financial and logistical barriers, ultimately, we have no intention of limiting what events KONTEKST can organise, and so we are collectively exploring other events that can follow KONTEKST Film Fest.

We are also planning to organise group visits to film festivals and events - invitations to which we will send by email and through our WhatsApp channels.

Our Funding

As much as we would love to, we currently do not receive any form of funding and we cover all expenses ourselves.

We will update this section if anything changes.

Safeguarding

Within our events, meetings and online activities we will adhere to our fundamental safeguarding measures.

To restate from Our Principles: discrimination in any form — racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, classism, casteism, + — is never tolerated at KONTEKST. Members of the collective who engage in any form of discrimination or harassment will be asked to not attend future KONTEKST activities.

Any member with concerns regarding safeguarding of themselves or others is asked to contact one of the appointed safeguarding coordinators. Members raising concerns will always have their anonymity protected.

Every member is asked to ensure that KONTEKST spaces are accessible to all and that all members are able to speak and be listened to.

Suggestions for how KONTEKST can better meet these aims will always be welcomed by the collective - contact us.
