About the project:

The interactive film is made with pre-recorded sequences filmed with a smart home CCTV camera, and the audience progresses through the narrative by clicking through the different camera viewpoints in the interface. Based on their chosen motive, Knowledge, Justice, Money or ???, the audience is guided through the experience by VidiArc, who has hired them to collect data on the Person of Interest seen on screen.

VidiArc’s demands get progressively more intrusive, with the audience losing more and more control over the interface as they progress through the narrative. Eventually VidiArc reveals their identity as an AI tool using the audience’s labour and human vision to create a digital voodoo doll of the Person of Interest to mould her behaviours, form her habits and forge her desires.

My intention with this film is to bring awareness to the extensive surveillance and data collection we encounter daily without our awareness and control, and how this data is used to construct a distorted digital likeness to control and predict our behaviour.
