Bio:
El is an ethnographic artist and writer from the Black Country, West Midlands, UK. Their work implements collaborative storytelling methods and community-led healthcare archiving to outline marginalised experiences of health in informational film works that imagine alternative systems of care. They founded XYZ Projects (CIC), a trans+ moving-image collective based in Birmingham, who explore methods of ‘queering the information film.’

Context:
El graduated with an MA in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2022 and got to know other KONTEKST members via mutual friends.

2024: El became a part of the collective in its formative stage as an admin, drafted the manifesto;
2025: El’s film Dr. XYZ: A Medical Drag Transthology was featured at KONTEKST Film Fest: ARCHIVE.
