Bio:
Anusha is an Indigenous filmmaker and visual anthropologist, originally from Nepal. Her work explores themes of cultural identity, heritage, and social justice, often through an observational documentary style. Rooted in cinéma vérité and ethnographic filmmaking, Anusha’s approach is deeply observational, allowing stories to unfold naturally within their environments. She often integrates archival materials into her work, creating reflective and layered narratives that bridge past and present. Her films centre the voices and experiences of marginalised communities, documenting everyday resilience and reimagining histories through an Indigenous lens. Anusha is also the co-founder of the Critical Himalayan Collective, a platform dedicated to critical discourse, academic research, artistic expression, and collaborative action around Himalayan issues.
Context:
Anusha is a 2023 graduate of MA Visual Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London and got involved with the collective before it was originally formed through the Visual Anthropology Films showcase.
